Tof’Selection #30

Categories: Tof'Selection

Such a long time since I wrote the last Tof’Selection ! It will be more regular now. I am thinking a lot about new things for this blog but I’m missing time, no worries, it will come !

Today, a very special selection from Damien Roué‘s Flickr photostream. I really appreciated his photos, they reminded me my 2 months in Chennaï 4 years ago. Even if I think very often to this crazy travel, these very nice photos gave me back new souvenirs that I forgot… I recognised some streets or places, a very special moment for me.

Here is a slideshow with some photos of Chennai, the city I lived in for 2 months.

Here is Pondicherry, one of my best week-end there with Auroville.

Tof’Selection #28 / The ambiant light painting

Categories: Tof'Selection

Today, I will show you a photo selection about the ambiant light painting. When I say ambiant light painting, I mean the lights that you don’t control to draw or write any message as we saw before here, here or for my 2009 wishes. You’ll see that most of the good ones come from street, roads or amusement parks. I did some searches on Flickr and, as usual, I was very surprised by the quality proposed sometimes. Check this out!

This one is really impressive because I have no idea how he did this effect with the lights, they’re moving but they don’t seem to be cars or moving lights and in the same time, the men are perfectly focused… Read more »

Tof’Selection #27/ The Sydney Opera House

Categories: Tof'Selection

Tonight, I decided to select the best Flickr photos about the Sydney Opera House. I really love this monument. Even before arriving here in Australia, I have always been amazed by this Sydney symbol. When you discover it, you realise how visionary Jørn Utzon was in the 50′s. The project was selected in 1955. Sometimes, it reminds me some Star Wars aspects.

Actually, I tried many times to take nice photos of the Opera but I realised that was very hard. I mean, you are really dependant on the environment light, even during the night or with fireworks (very common in Sydney). There is no defined moment to succeed the « cliché ». In addition, this monument is so unique and particular. That gives a mysterious side that you can not control.

On this selection, you will realise that the best pictures were taken during sunrises (from the Harbour bridge side especially). I thought it was harder to find good photos taken during sunsets. Maybe because here the sun arrives from the sea to leave on the earth side… (I have always been more impressed with compositions with interactions between the sun/sky and the sea).

Why Skittles is doing well but not enough

Categories: Online Ad., Strategy, Web

For the last 7 days (since this article for me), all the TwitterSphere has been talking about the Skittle website? widget? webget. Indeed, for those who do not know what I am talking about, have a look here.

Most of you must remember this very strange website one year ago created by Modernista, where you have just a small menu in the right top corner with links to their Netvibes universe, their Wikipedia page, their Facebook page, their YouTube account… « You are viewing Modernista! through the eyes of the Web.« , it was particulary relevant in this case, I mean for a digital agency, indeed, many things depends on their reputation (like most of the communication agencies) and X or Y thinks about. Here, everything is here, the visitor has every tool to get his opinion about it. That perfectly fits what people need.
